We Remember Gary Kurtz, Star Wars Producer – Local Trouble Star Wars Podcast

October 3, 2018

We are all standing on the shoulders of giants. And Gary Kurtz was a giant. He worked with George Lucas on American Graffiti, one of the greatest films ever made. And then he worked on Star Wars - one of the other greatest films ever made.

He helped to define the Force, he helped to manage the deals that meant George got to do business the way he wanted to.

We remember his wonderful legacy on this podcast. And yes, the Wheelers from Walter Murch's Return to Oz get a mention.

Elsewhere, we catch on on Solo now it's seen it's home video release, and we've had a few weeks to get in some further viewings.

The Empire Strikes Back You Didn’t See - The Leigh Brackett First Draft - Local Trouble Star Wars Podcast

September 19, 2018

Back in 1978, when The Empire Strikes Back was simply called 'Star Wars II', sci-fi author Leigh Brackett handed George Lucas a first draft of the script that was very different to the movie we'd see on screen. Many of the main story beats remain in her first take on the film, but character, motivation and parental revelations are quite different.

We take a look at the Star Wars sequel that could have been and honour the work of the late Leigh Brackett.

Luke and James also catch up on Marvel's excellent current run of Darth Vader comics with a look at #21, and anticipate the upcoming Star Wars: Resistance in its primary-coloured glory.

Let us know what you think of the Leigh Brackett script on TwitterFacebook, and don’t forget to leave a review on iTunes.

Luke also reviews some listener feedback from...his brother! It is on some very fun theories on Solo though, so that's fun. Can the five people who saw it get in touch with their thoughts please?

Brace yourselves, this is a big one. 1985 called. They want their news back.

Han Solo is Prometheus, Obviously - Local Trouble Star Wars Podcast

July 5, 2018

We take a big step back from the flying shrapnel of the fandom fallout and reaffirm our love of a good old fashioned story. James rips from the pages of Joseph Campbell to give his take on Han's journey from the latest origin movie, to the guy we know in the classic trilogy.

Yeah, we cover THAT Ahmed Best tweet too, but mostly we look back at what we love about this crazy, stupid space movie.

MTFBY!

Solo Reactions: What We Thought of the Movie - Local Trouble Star Wars Podcast

June 5, 2018

Looks like a whole lot is being said about why this movie isn't making the cash, but what do two other white males who self-publish online think?

Taking advantage to the internet's built-in functionality to distribute unchecked and unsubstantiated information throughout the world instantly; we reflect on what we liked, what we think didn't work and, perhaps most importantly, wonder why that chicken is in the pot anyway.
